Gabriel Heredia<\/a>, 25, was born in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina. At a young age, he began working as a barber despite not having arms, and has already worked throughout different locations in his country. He owns his own shop in the city of Caseros. In 2017, he won the award for the best barber in the entire country. His disability has been a motivation in his daily life.<\/div><\/div>

In Argentina<\/a>, Law 22,431 (1981) was established, which promotes and regulates the inclusion of people with disabilities.
According to a UNICEF report, in Argentina<\/a>, almost 15 percent of the child population suffers from a disability. Asserting the rights of boys and girls with disabilities goes a long way to ensure adequate and significant social development.

In addition, Gabriel’s story makes clear that a supportive family environment translates into the best incentive for young people with disabilities to fully develop their potential and stand out.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\n

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina \ua7f7 Cuando me veas, lo primero que probablemente notar\u00e1s es que no tengo brazos. Puede que no me creas cuando te digo que soy peluquero, pero luego ves c\u00f3mo corto el pelo. Ya ves la calidad de mi trabajo. Mi \u201cdiscapacidad<\/a>\u201d deja de ser importante de inmediato. \n<\/p>\n\n

En 2017 gan\u00e9 el premio al mejor barbero de la Rep\u00fablica Argentina. Aunque no lo digo con arrogancia, me enorgullece ostentar el t\u00edtulo de mejor barbero de mi pa\u00eds. \n<\/p>\n\n

Joven sigue los pasos de su madre, desarrolla una clientela<\/h2>\n\n

Empec\u00e9 a cortar el cabello a los 14 a\u00f1os, inspirado por mi madre que trabajaba como estilista. De ni\u00f1o ten\u00eda pr\u00f3tesis en los brazos pero nunca me acostumbr\u00e9. No me sent\u00eda como si estuviera usando las pr\u00f3tesis, as\u00ed que me las quit\u00e9. \n<\/p>\n\n

Me las arregl\u00e9 para vivir una vida lo m\u00e1s normal posible. A pesar de mis dificultades, mi familia siempre me apoy\u00f3. [Aunque Gabriel no tiene manos ni parte de los antebrazos, usa los brazos para cortar el cabello.<\/a>] Al principio, me gust\u00f3 para fijarse en los cortes y peinados de m\u00fasicos y personajes famosos. Tambi\u00e9n me inspir\u00e9 en el trabajo de mi madre. \n<\/p>\n\n

Practiqu\u00e9 con animales de peluche y mu\u00f1ecas, luego mis amigos se arriesgaron a ser voluntarios como clientes. Cortarles el pelo es como comenc\u00e9 a trabajar de manera m\u00e1s profesional. Al principio, sin estudios formales, me sent\u00eda realizada practicando y viendo c\u00f3mo se desarrollaba el proceso. Luego, comenc\u00e9 a estudiar formalmente y obtuve mi t\u00edtulo. \n<\/p>\n\n

Mi primera clientela lleg\u00f3 de boca en boca. Alguien me dejaba cortarles el pelo y luego sus amigos ve\u00edan mi trabajo y acud\u00edan a m\u00ed para cortarlos. \n<\/p>\n\n

Peluquero sin brazos abre tienda, inspira a j\u00f3venes<\/h2>\n\n

Despu\u00e9s de mucho estudio y pr\u00e1ctica, cosech\u00e9 los frutos de mis esfuerzos. Abr\u00ed mi propia barber\u00eda y gan\u00e9 una clientela que siempre sal\u00eda feliz de la tienda. Eso es fundamental. Quienes ingresan a mi local salen satisfechos y a gusto con mi trabajo. \n<\/p>\n\n

En muchos casos, ser peluquero demuestra m\u00e1s que un simple trabajo: se convierte en una forma de arte. Ver a la gente irse feliz se ha convertido en la parte de mi trabajo que m\u00e1s me gusta. Si les gusta el corte de pelo y se sienten c\u00f3modos, estoy contento. \n<\/p>\n\n

El deseo de aprender, estudiar y mejorar ha estado dentro de m\u00ed desde muy joven. Aprend\u00ed a servirme un vaso, andar en bicicleta e incluso conducir un veh\u00edculo. Si algo resultaba dif\u00edcil de resolver por mi cuenta, mi madre estaba all\u00ed conmigo. \n<\/p>\n\n

Con el tiempo, estudi\u00e9 y me perfeccion\u00e9. Ahora, no solo trabajo haciendo lo que amo, tambi\u00e9n doy cursos y talleres. Me un\u00ed a una asociaci\u00f3n ben\u00e9fica llamada Argentina Corta<\/a>, donde un grupo de babers se unen solidariamente para organizar eventos y dar cortes gratis a las bajas -personas de ingresos. \n<\/p>\n\n

Tambi\u00e9n les ense\u00f1amos el oficio, para que tengan una herramienta para obtener trabajos dignos y salir adelante. En mi profesi\u00f3n hay que ser m\u00e1s que bueno y pulcro. Hay que ser original, en dise\u00f1os y cortes. Disfruto ense\u00f1ando y motivando a los alumnos porque, a cambio, ellos me motivan a lograr todo lo que me propongo. \n<\/p>\n\n
