Submit Story

Use the Pitch story page if you are suggesting a story.

Once you have formally engaged with Orato and received an email that includes a fully executed copy of our Freelancer Agreement from our editors, you have our consent to pursue a story on our behalf.

You will need to use this form to submit your draft and complementing multimedia assets such as photos or audio clips to our content management system.

Links to YouTube URLs should be included for video submissions. If you do not have access to YouTube, let our editors know and we can make arrangements for an alternate upload solution.

We also need you to upload background facts, context, dates of events, and your other notes for story background which will accompany each post. This will highlight the work you put in to research and develop the story for publication.

Add your suggested headline in the headline field. Keep it brief.

You need to submit at least one photo as your featured image for the story page and for display on the home page and the category page. This image must be 1280×960 pixels and 100 dpi. Secondary images can be any shape and should be 1,280 px wide and 100 dpi.

You can copy and paste your body copy into the body field, including links and other HTML markups.

Additional storytelling elements such as photographs or audio clips should be uploaded in the form with captions and not embedded in your story.

Only submit original photos under fair-use images with Creative Commons licenses or images for which you own the publishing rights and have the authority to provide Orato with those complimenting multimedia assets.

All multimedia components are subject to acceptance by the editorial team and may not be selected to accompany your story.

Add story tags to be included on the story page; two minimum, six maximum. Tags should be short, specific, directly relevant to your story, and spelled correctly. All submitted tags dynamically create landing pages, so spelling is crucial. Capitalize the words to create clean landing page titles.

If you have questions about how to use the form, email the editor.
