We have developed a unique approach to newswriting and storytelling that puts the focus squarely on people personally living and experiencing major news events, anywhere in the world.

Orato’s goal is to share these human experiences with our global audience while maintaining the strictest journalistic standards.
All contributors are expected to deliver content based on recorded interviews with individuals who experienced an event first-hand. Stories are then written by contributors in the interview subject’s voice and autobiographical style, with separate background information reported and written to provide context.
You can expect all pitches and approved stories to go through a rigorous vetting and editing process to verify accounts and ensure authenticity. Successful pitches will clearly sell our editors on why a proposed interview subject is the best to bring out an emotional first-person experience of a current event.
We offer highly competitive freelance rates that reward experience, and offer additional incentives to provide the exclusivity, multimedia assets, and immediacy that can make a story great.
Orato also maintains a rolling list of Story Ideas and Interview Subjects that we are interested in pursuing for publication as first-person accounts.
