…about the ambitions of Orato World Media.

Sam Yehia

Founder & Publisher, Orato World Media

Sam Yehia is the Founder and Publisher of Orato World Media, a global journalism platform dedicated to verified first-person news storytelling. With more than 40 years of entrepreneurial experience, Sam has built and led successful ventures across hospitality, media, and real estate development.

In 1990, Sam founded the Cambie Malone’s Group of Companies in British Columbia, Canada, developing some of the Pacific Northwest’s most recognized food, beverage, and retail brands. By 2019, the group employed over 250 staff and generated more than $25 million in annual revenue before being successfully sold.

Sam first launched Orato Media in the late 1990s, driven by a belief that people who were eyewitnesses to a breaking / current news event could tell a story about their experience in an infinitely more compelling, moving, raw and visceral way. From the very outset, the platform gained early international recognition, including a Webby Award nomination, for its novel approach to first-person news story telling / journalism.

In search of a solution to make this type of storytelling financially sustainable, in 2020, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, Sam relaunched Orato World Media with a renewed mission: to counter the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation by publishing only true stories from real people and with the highest practice of editorial standards.

Today, Orato operates as a global platform with:

Stories from 190+ countries
Nearly three thousand first-person news stories published
A network of 400+ approved journalists worldwide

Under Sam’s leadership, Orato combines rigorous verification — including identity checks, corroborating / supporting evidence, and fact-checking review — from a human-centric perspective so our viewers can better understand what the interview subject experienced and how, in those critical life-changing moments, they managed to survive the event firsthand.

Orato’s mission is simple: to give those who have survived conflict, a  natural disaster, oppression, racism, criminal events and injustices the opportunity to tell their story, in their own words, and publish it with truth, transparency, dignity, and integrity.

In a world shaped by division, this is the belief that drives Orato:
