Establishing the International Media Broadcasting Corporation

The Fragility of Democracy
Global democracy has sharply declined over the past four decades with over 75% of the world’s population, six billion people, now living under authoritarian rule. US President Donald Trump’s erosion of democratic norms exemplifies the rising threat. Authoritarians thrive on misinformation, division, and dismantling of democratic institutions thereby highlighting our urgent need to act to protect democracy.
It’s Time to Challenge Current Media Trends
Nonprofit national broadcasters like the ABC, BBC, CBC, and NPR were created to foster national identity. Today, we need a non-profit International Media Broadcasting Corporation (IMBC) to unite people around shared democratic values. Inspired by years of investing in ethical journalism through Orato World Media, we aim to expand our content of trustworthy, first-person news reporting globally. To illustrate the compelling nature of this style of content, we’ve published nearly three thousand stories from around the world which can be freely viewed at Orato.world
The Perilous Impact of Social Media
Social media giants prioritize profit over truth, fueling division and violence. Events like the US Capitol attack and the Rohingya crisis show how unchecked misinformation causes real-world harm. The UK was recently swept by violent anti-immigration protests and riots after a Welsh man stabbed and killed three girls, under ten years of age, at a dance class rehearsing for an upcoming Taylor Swift concert. The real trigger for the violence was not the crime itself but the misinformation spread by far-right groups and activists, including Tommy Robinson.
Billionaires like Elon Musk and now Mark Zuckerberg have exacerbated these issues by allowing the spread of extremist content and dangerously influencing political discourse on their social media sites.
Complicity of the Wealthy
For selfish reasons, wealthy elites have shown “anticipatory obedience” by paying respect and normalizing authoritarian leaders, weakening democratic institutions, even though standing up for truth and democratic values sets an example and is essential for preserving civic courage and resisting authoritarianism.
The Urgent Need for a New-Media Venture
Now is the time to create a safe, fact-based platform free from corporate or political corruption. We will prioritize truth, foster intelligent discourse, and counter authoritarian narratives by offering a voice to all who cherish democracy and human dignity.
Vision and Mission
The International Media Broadcasting Corporation (IMBC) will:
- • Permit only respectful, sensitive and fact-based content.
- • Prohibit disrespectful, racist and hate-filled content.
- • Invite all individuals to participate, regardless of race, color, nationality, or beliefs.
- • Maintain a “safe” platform for truthful storytelling and factually based education.
- • Prioritize intelligent discourse and encourage debate based on verifiable facts.
Proposal
We seek strategic partners and contributors to establish the IMBC. Whether as a financial contributor, influencer, a board member or active media participant your involvement is crucial.
For neither fame or fortune, we will seed this proposed media venture with an initial
investment of $1 million USD provided we are joined by others who are prepared to
make a financial contribution to adequately capitalize this venture. Together we will
begin establishing the legacy of this new media venture, build momentum while
securing the additional support of likeminded individuals who share these common
values.
If you believe in safeguarding truth and democracy, please help connect us with others who can contribute.
Please fill out the form below if you can contribute and to further our communication.
Thank you for your support.
